At the beginning of Term 4 - 2007, Mr Victor Branson joined the school as Head of College.Mr Branson is an experienced School Master with an enviable record of leadership in educational circles. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Bachelor of Divinity with Honours, both from the University of Sydney, and a Diploma in Education from the University of New England. He served on the staff of Trinity Grammar School, Summer Hill from 1983 to 1993 and taught History and Christian Studies there, being appointed Head of History in 1988. It was, however, Victor’s outstanding leadership as the Foundation Head of Bishop Druitt College, Coff’s Harbour from 1993 to 2004 that commanded the attention of the Board. The College began with 37 pupils; after ten years with Mr Branson as Head, numbers reached 1070 from Kindergarten to Year 12. This was a low fee-paying school. Mr Branson understood the complexities of funding arrangements for Independent Schools and created a first rate school on a shoe-string budget. In 2001, Bishop Druitt College was placed 40th out of 900 schools as measured by the Higher School Certificate orders of Merit. It was –and remains – the strongest academic school in the region. Over the last three years, Mr Branson has been employed as the Foundation Director of the St. Andrew’s Institute CityEd and as Director of Staff Services at St. Andrew’s Cathedral School. |
